Quantum Learning Lab

Prepare. Practice. Pass.

Step into a Meaningful Career as a Paraprofessional!

Quantum is working beyond the learnng lab to support paraprofessionals in their journey toward certification and career growth. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to brush up on essential skills, these resources are tailored to help you succeed on the ParaPro Assessment.

The ParaPro Assessment was developed in response to the federal No Child Left Behind Act, which was signed
into law by President Bush in January 2002. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which has replaced NCLB,
leaves these requirements in place. The law requires that paraprofessionals serving in an instructional capacity satisfy
one of the following:

  • An associate of arts degree

  • Two years of college

  • Through a state or local academic assessment, a demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and math.

The choice of test or tests to satisfy the third option is left to the discretion of states and districts.

Thinking about starting a career in education?

The ParaPro Assessment is designed for individuals with fewer than 60 college credit hours who are eager to make a difference in the lives of students.

This exam measures your skills in reading, writing, and math, along with your ability to use those skills to support classroom instruction.

Administered by ETS (PRAXIS), the ParaPro Assessment is your first step toward a rewarding role in education! Sign up now to take your exam at the Quantum office!

By passing the ParaPro Assessment, you’ll be qualified to work under the guidance of certified teachers, helping students succeed every day.

It’s an excellent entry point for anyone passionate about education and looking to grow professionally.

The ParaPro Assessment for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals measures skills and knowledge in reading,
mathematics, and writing, as well as the ability to apply those skills and knowledge to assist in classroom instruction.

The test consists of 90 selected-response questions across the subject areas of reading, mathematics, and writing.

Approximately two-thirds of the questions in each subject area focus on basic skills and knowledge, and approximately one-third of the questions in each subject area focus on the application of those skills and knowledge in a classroom context.

Fifteen of the questions in the test (five in each subject) are pretest questions and do not count toward the test taker’s score. The test questions are arranged by subject area, with reading first, then
mathematics, followed by writing.

The exam fee, including proctoring, is just $75.00—payable online when you schedule your exam!
